Choral Arts Ensemble again joins the Bach Society of Minnesota, led by Matthias Maute, for a joyous musical banquet. We celebrate with family and friends: J. S. Bach, his second son C. P. E. Bach, his uncle Johann Ludwig Bach, and his father-in-law Johann Christoph Bach all gather to present their exquisite music. Invite in old family friend Telemann, godfather of C. P. E. Bach, and fervent Bach disciple Johannes Brahms, and we are guaranteed a party!

The 40th annual Choral Arts Ensemble Christmas concert will include John Rutter’s marvelous Gloria with a professional brass octet, a new carol in memory of Ed Pompeian by world-renowned composer Ä’riks Ešenvalds, a prelude by organist Lee Afdahl, a glorious sing-along of carols with ALL these forces blazing, and Stille Nacht by candlelight. Choral Arts Ensemble will sing all manner of songs about love—true, unrequited, at-first-sight, mature, star-crossed, selfless, lost, or just silly—in collaboration with Great River Shakespeare Festival actors, led by their artistic director Doug Scholz-Carlson. Our musical offerings, representing the kaleidoscope of romantic love, will be complemented by equally varied romantic scenes, speeches, and poems delivered by the superb GRSF actors, now celebrating their 20th season of professional theater.

This year's festival welcomes the singers of Cantus back to Southeastern MN for workshops with the Honors Concert Choir and other selected singers from area schools. This one-hour concert will feature the HS Choir, Choral Arts Ensemble, and Cantus — separately and together! Tickets are just $10.
