Auditions for 2010-2011 season

AUDITIONS will be held by appointment (day and evening) May 17-June 4. They will take place at our offices in Assisi Heights, Rochester. Recalls by section will be held the evening of June 8.

AUDITIONS for the inaugural Choral Arts Symphonic Chorus (commitment of six Tuesday night rehearsals, August 31-October 5), one Friday night dress rehearsal (October 8), and two performances (October 9, 10)of Beethoven's Mass in C) will take place by appointment (day and evening) from July 19-30.

The 15-minute audition consists of tonal memory and rhythm exercises, sightsinging, and range tests. Please bring a prepared piece (art song, folk song, hymn tune) and the completed audition form.

Who: Any interested adult singer in the SE MN region with a musical background may audition; all singers must audition annually. Choral Arts Ensemble consists of 40 singers, Choral Arts Symphonic Chorus will include an additional 20+ singers.

Rehearsals: Rehearsals will be held Tuesday evenings, 6:45-9:45 pm, August 24, 2010- May 17, 2011, at Zumbro Lutheran Church, Rochester, with occasional extra rehearsals as concerts approach. The Symphonic Chorus will rehearse from 6:46-8:15 during this Tuesday evening block, schedule as noted above.

Performance schedule: The 2010-2011 season will feature several concerts, the annual benefit, and community outreach concerts including performances in the Mayo Clinic's Rosemary and Meredith Willson Harmony for Mayo series. All are in Rochester venues, unless otherwise indicated.


October 9–10, 2010–Concert at Lourdes Chapel, Assisi Heights
December 10, 11, 2010 – Christmas Concert at Lourdes Chapel at Assisi Heights
December 11 (morning) – Family Holiday Concert, Rochester Public Library
December 12, 2010– Christmas Concert, St. Pius X Catholic Church
February 12, 2011– A Singing Valentine annual benefit dinner and concert
March 4, 2011– Concert in Pine Island (tentative)
March 5, 2011–Concert at St Pius X Church with Ames Chamber Artists
March 6, 2011– Concert in Ames, IA, with Ames Chamber Artists
May 14–15, 2011– Concert at St. Pius X Catholic Church (Sat) & Zumbro Lutheran Church (Sun)

Requirements:
• experience in choral singing
• ability to learn music quickly and independently
• commitment for entire season
• conscientious advance preparation before rehearsals
