May 6, 2012 –4:00 pm Choral Arts Ensemble’s concert season draws to an exhilarating close with music for the springtime from some of America’s favorite composers and folk traditions. Guest conductor Matthew Culloton (photo right) will lead the singers in a program that includes traditional concert works, including Aaron Copland’s Lark and Cecil Effinger’s Four Pastorales for choir and oboe, and favorite folk songs like She’ll Be Comin’ Round the Mountain, The Gift to be Simple, and Shall We Gather at the River. Two premieres will also be featured on the program: a new work by Brian Holmes, the winner of our third annual CAE Commissioning Contest, and a new folk song arranged for CAE by Matthew Culloton.
